VeVe and Marvel launch a digital comics platform with over 300 Marvel issues, featuring NFT versions for collectors.

The Ethereum-based NFT marketplace Veve announced the introduction of its VeVe Comics platform and an innovative digital comic book reader this Thursday. Marvel Comics, a leading name in the comic book industry, is the first to feature its comic books on this platform.

VeVe's partnership with Marvel offers fans the opportunity to dive into a collection of over 300 Marvel digital issues, featuring iconic characters such as Spider-Man, the X-Men, Captain Marvel, and Black Panther. These digital comics will be released concurrently with their physical counterparts and are designed for an immersive reading experience with a panel-by-panel navigation feature. VeVe emphasizes that the digital conversion of each page was meticulously done by hand.

How does VeVe’s comic book offering stand apart from purchasing digital comics through platforms like Amazon or the former Comixology? Beyond offering standard digital copies at prices matching those of print and digital formats available through other outlets, VeVe distinguishes itself by providing limited-edition comic book NFTs.

These collectible NFT versions come in various levels of rarity and feature a distinct edition number. Created on the Ethereum-based scaling solution Immutable X, these NFTs can be traded on the VeVe marketplace. They offer up to five alternate comic book covers and enable an augmented reality reading experience through the VeVe app.

On average, these limited edition NFT comic books carry a price tag about $3 higher than their non-NFT digital counterparts.

“As avid fans and collectors, we've noticed the digital comics community's desire for a deeper, more engaging experience,” stated VeVe CEO David Yu. “Our goal is to establish a platform that not only simplifies the discovery of comics but also places a strong emphasis on design and functionality, fostering a sense of community and making it accessible to everyone.”

The VeVe comic book application can be downloaded at no cost on both iOS and Android platforms. With a single account, users can navigate through both the NFT marketplace and the Comics application. The collaboration with Marvel Comics marks the start of VeVe's broader strategy to partner with various entities within the comic book sector.

Established in 2018, VeVe has made its mark by offering digital collectibles from an array of prominent entertainment franchises, including Marvel, DC Comics, Disney, and more. Immutable X is renowned for its role in the NFT gaming sector, supporting titles like Gods Unchained and Guild of Guardians.
