Ubisoft partners with Ethereum NFT card game Cross the Ages to introduce in-game cards inspired by the Watch Dogs series. Learn more about this exciting collaboration.

Ubisoft is set to venture into the crypto realm once again, teaming up with Ethereum NFT card game Cross the Ages to introduce in-game cards inspired by the Watch Dogs series.

As per a tweet and an announcement on Ubisoft’s official Discord server, players can anticipate the launch of cards influenced by the iconic Watch Dogs game franchise within Cross the Ages on April 3. While specifics remain undisclosed, the initial trailer below teases the inclusion of vigilante protagonist Aiden Pearce from the original 2014 installment.

The Watch Dogs series has traversed three open-world action-packed entries across various gaming platforms, each showcasing distinct characters and locales. However, they are unified by overarching themes such as the proliferation of surveillance and the strategic utilization of technology hacking. The most recent addition, Watch Dogs: Legion, debuted in 2020.

Ubisoft's involvement with the Cross the Ages team stems from a $12 million investment round disclosed in March 2022. Notably, Square Enix, the mastermind behind the renowned Final Fantasy series, also joined as a strategic investor later that year, marking its foray into the crypto domain.

Cross the Ages stands as a card-battling marvel, boasting NFT trading cards minted on Immutable X, an Ethereum scaling network. Reviewing the game last summer, Decrypt’s GG described it as a "challenging yet gratifying" strategy endeavor with a notable learning curve. It's accessible across iOS, Android, Windows PC, and macOS platforms.

Ubisoft's immersion into the crypto sphere continues to deepen, aligning with the impending launch of its maiden original blockchain game on Oasys, Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles. In December, the company rolled out Ethereum profile picture (PFP) NFTs intricately linked to the game.

Noteworthy is Ubisoft's extensive engagement in this domain over the years, including the introduction of NFTs on Tezos for its Ghost Recon Breakpoint game in late 2021, the release of NFTs inspired by the Rabbids franchise and more within The Sandbox, alongside investments in various supporting projects.
